Tips on Removing Motor Oil Stains from Carpet

My husband works as a mechanic for a big car company. Usually he has to work a lot during the week. Most of the time he comes back from his work really tired and only wants to take a bath, have something to eat and go to bed.

Usually his job is worth it since he earns a lot of money and we can afford vacations from time to time but it is quite a hassle because he usually can make quite a mess when he comes home. They do a lot of services in the shop which require a lot of work. When he comes home his clothes, hands and face are always dirty and smudged. But the worst part is when some of that smudge gets on the carpet. Calling professional cleaners Nunhead every time is not an option so you have to do it yourself.

The worst type of stains are stains from motor oil. Sometimes motor oil from his clothes winds on the carpet and it is really difficult to get it out. Stain from motor oil is very difficult to remove since oil is a thick and sticky substance. But according to professional cleaners Nunhead it is not impossible. Here are some tips on motor oil removal from carpet:

  1. Start by removing any excess oil with a spoon.
  2. The rest of it you can use some paper towels to remove the rest of it. Use blotting not rubbing though.
  3. Put some alcohol or spirit on a wash cloth and start blotting from the outside of the stain the centre of it.
  4. Continue to use these methods until the stains are no more.
