Useful Tips on Cleaning Dishwashers

Some of the modern home's kitchens have a dish washer installed. It saves time and is quite useful. Unfortunately it gets dirty itself from time to time so you have to clean it eventually. Here are some good tips on how to do it.

First of all, you should check the dishwasher's temperature setting. It determines the temperature of water being used for dish washing and varies, depending on the model of the dishwasher. Usually it is around  130 degrees.

Before running the cleaning cycle look around the washer and determine the types of stains you will have to deal with. According to cleaners Wallington the most common types of stains are hard water stains which are also referred to as lime scale stains, rust, mold, there might be some discoloration and of course the food stains.

If you have not done it yet – empty the contents of the dishwasher – and add a tablespoon of bleach. After that run a full cleaning cycle. This should remove any mold that has build up inside.
Add citric acid afterwards and run another cycle. This will remove the hard water deposits. The acid is to be about a cup, or two. You can put it in a cup – no problem there.

If you put a cup filled with vinegar it will dissolve almost every stain in the dishwasher. You can use either that or baking soda – does the same thing.

The most fearsome of these stains are considered to be water stains. Cleaners Wallington recommend using a water softener to reduce the stains caused by it.

Follow these steps and you should have no problem with keeping your dishwasher in good shape for a long time.

Good luck !
