How to Clean a Carpet with White Vinegar

White vinegar is a safe and inexpensive alternative to commercial carpet cleaners. It can clean tables, countertops and carpets just as efficiently as any cleaning product available on the market. However, to get the best from the white vinegar as a cleaner, you need to know how to use it properly. By combining white vinegar with a few other inexpensive household items, you can make a great cleaner that will remove stains from your carpet. Follow the instructions below to have perfectly cleaned carpets using only natural household products.

Instructions
  1. Fill a spray bottle with equal parts of water and white vinegar, then add a teaspoon of liquid dish soap and a teaspoon of lemon juice. Mix the ingredients thoroughly by shaking the bottle for about five seconds.
  2. Press paper towels over the stained area of the carpet by applying a little pressure to absorb as much moisture as possible. Do not rub the stain as this will only spread stain-causing material on clean sections of the carpet.
  3. Once you have blotted up as much of the stain as possible, apply your cleaning solution to the affected area. Spray generously and let the solution sit on the carpet for about 30 minutes.
  4. Blot up the cleaning solution and the stain with paper towels.
  5. Pour clean water on the treated area to rinse the carpet, then blot dry.
  6. Leave the carpet to air dry completely before allowing any walk on it.
If there is a stain that is too stubborn for you, consider calling professional carpet cleaning company to deal with the stain and get you carpet clean again. Have in mind that most companies offer green carpet cleaning nowadays, so it won't be a problem for them to keep your home toxic-free and safe for you and your family.
